Hon. Cynthia LaToye Miller - President

Cylenthia LaToye Miller was appointed Judge of the 36th Judicial District Court by Governor Jennifer Granholm on April 10, 2006 and elected by the people of the city of Detroit in November 2006.  Judge Miller presides over cases from all of the Court’s dockets. She is honored and humbled to serve on one of the busiest courts in the country.

Judge Miller is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Black Judges of Michigan; and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.  She is also a member of the Wolverine Bar Association; the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan; the State Bar of Michigan; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; and a Golden Heritage Life Member of the NAACP.  Judge Miller is a Past President of the Wolverine Bar Association and of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.

April E. Rolle - 2nd Vice President

April E. Rolle is licensed in Florida and Tennessee.  She attended Columbia Union College in Takoma Park, Maryland, and received a B.A. in English/Pre-law.  She thereafter attended the University of Tennessee College of Law where she received a J.D. degree. While attending Columbia Union College, Attorney Rolle was a White House Intern in the Office of Presidential Personnel.  Following law school, she became a judicial law clerk for Justice Adolpho A. Birch, Jr. of the Tennessee Supreme Court. She is currently the founder and Managing Attorney for the Florida Business Law Group.  Her areas of practice include business litigation, real estate, and bankruptcy.

Detra P. Shaw-Wilder - Corresponding Secretary

Detra Shaw-Wilder is a partner at Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton. She concentrates her practice in business law and complex commercial litigation. She is a former vice president of the Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association (formerly the Black Lawyers Association), and an immediate past president of the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association. She has served on the Dade County Bar Association Board of Directors, has co-Chaired the organization’s Banking and Business Litigation and Civil Litigation Committees, and has served as a Board member of the University of Miami Law Alumni Association. She is also active in her church and in promoting diversity and inclusion for law students attending local universities.

Hon. Sharon E. Strickland Williams - Board Member

Sharon Strickland Williams is presently the Supervising Administrative Law Judge for the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

She is a former Vice President of the National Bar Association (97-99).

Shari F. Crittendon - Board Member

Ms. Crittendon is Vice President, General Counsel, Government Affairs and Secretary of the UNCF - the United Negro College Fund -- the nation's largest and most effective minority education organization. UNCF provides operating and program funds to its 39 member private historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and their 60,000 students, and manages more than 400 scholarships-including the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarships-supporting more than 8,000 students at over 900 colleges and universities. She reports to the President and CEO and provides advice and counsel to the UNCF Board of Directors, Senior Staff and Member Presidents in the areas of higher education, constitutional law, government affairs, intellectual property, corporate compliance and corporate governance.
